My Bedside Table, Revealed

Reading Hilary’s post over at A Look into our Lives inspired me to do as she did and reveal my bedside table ")
I really loved her post.
I thought it was a great way to get to know someone better.

So, here goes: My Bedside Table, Revealed

1) The usual suspects…lamp, telephone, tissue, alarm clock

2) Pretty glass vase-I love colored glass

3)Rock-To throw at Firehubby when he snores. JUST KIDDING! (ooh, I’m in trouble now!)

Actually this rock means the world to me. It is a candle holder.

When Firehubby and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary,

we went to Vancouver Island, Canada.

It was an incredibly romantic trip. The inn had one of these in our room, made by a local artisan. Special memories.

4)Black Ticonderoga pencils- Never know when a story will come to mind. They are my version of a laptop.

5)My latest reads…

All Over but the Shoutin’ by Rick Bragg

My new passion, reading about women who lived in eras past and have overcome adversity.

The author tells of his life growing up in the Old South, with a focus on his hard working, self-sacrificing mother.

He is a phenomenal writer and I am clinging to each word.

The Shack by Wm. Paul Young

A sweet neighbor just dropped this by as a special gift.

I am looking forward to finding out why I came to her mind as she read it.

New Jack by Ted Conover

An autobiography about a prison guard…don’t ask! “)

Our Mother-Daughter Journal by Julie and the Princess

This is a special book in which the Princess and I write little notes to each other.

After we make a special entry, we tuck it under each other’s pillow.

Sometimes it’s a gratitude journal, sometimes a chance to say sorry, a special love note…I love our book.

I thought this was fun. Maybe you will be inspired too!

Loving the journal idea for when my daughter gets a little older!! I like that you have so many books on your nightstand!! Looks like a comfy place to unwind at night!!

Read the shack last year, AWESOME read.
Now its revealed how Firehubby gets to sleep,, You Rock him to sleep (what a sweet wife you are) LOL

LOL at my husband's comment. Good thing I'm deaf so the snoring doesn't bother me, eh?

I LOVE that rock! How cool. And I love that everything on your nightstand has sentimental value. Mine usually does, but it gets rearranged often by a busy little 3-year old :)

Have a GREAT day!

Ok, you totally got me with the notebook that you and your daughter write notes in! I am definitely going to purchase one myself and start a new tradition. How special...thank you so much for sharing!

Okay, I hate to read... so your books? Blech.

HOWEVER, I love to write, love little notes, and am inspired by the journal!!! I am going to have to get one of those!!! YES!

Thanks for the great idea and inspiration!

I like the idea of writing notes back and forth to your kids. I would like to do that when my children get a little older.

Yay! You joined in, too! How fun :) I love the vase and the awesome rock candle holder! We do have an alarm clock, but it's on my hubby's side. I can't stand alarm clocks and I'm afraid I would throw it against the wall if it were by me!
Also, it seems as though a stack of good books is a must have for the bedside table!
LOOOVE the mother/daughter journal. My mom and I did that as well when I was growing up. I'll have to do that my daughter (once she's grown up that is...I mean, she's not even born yet!)
:) Have a great day!
Blessings....

That was neat...I don't have a night stand. Strange huh? Our bedroom is too small. It is clear across the room and has tissues and a picture on it. Does the pictures surprise you? Read the shack last year too. Liked it.

What a cute idea. Ha -- people would see a bunch of dust on my nightstand. I have a stack of books, a lamp, and a bible.

I loved The Shack.

Had to say that the mother/daughter journal is a fantastic idea and one I look forward to doing when my daughter gets a little older!

I REALLY LOVE the journal between you and the princess! I just think that is the neatest idea! It reminds me of the sisterhood of the traveling pants or something...except a journal and it's not being mailed across the world. My granny just finished reading that book by Rick Bragg - All Over But The Shoutin'. She said it was a really good book. I haven't read The Shack yet, but I've also heard great things about it as well. Love your bedside table!

Hope you have a fabulous Friday!

My favorite is the journal you share with your daughter, with the rock candle holder being a close second! What a neat nightstand you have! Mine just has a lamp and a box of tissues. *sigh*

Oh I'm definetely going to have to memo that idea for when Brynn gets older! Such a wonderful idea...thanks for sharing!

Hate 2 intrude, but Fire Hubby has identified 3 things wrong with this picture:

1. Bed appears to be made.
2. There are actually tissues in the tissue box
3. Stack of Reader's Digest has been removed...

brian said...

...Oh, and, I DO NOT snore!

Just a note...I showed my bedside table too, yours is much more interesting...lolol.....Hope you have a great evening...

Hey, C.C.D. Erica here!

Your new smile is MUCH better than your old smile. It confused me EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I couldn't figure out which way to tilt my head. It was like lookin' at a Picasso!!!

thanks, julie. i definitely need them. actually covet might be a better word. thank you so much for your encouragement. it's so awesome that even though we've never met that we can be united in such an amazing way.

I totally love the journal idea!!! My kids are too little for that right now but I'm gonna store that idea away for a few more years!!! That is just brilliant and something I'm sure you and your daughter will cherish over the years, esp as she becomes a mother herself!

Thanks for stopping by. I am so jealous of your journal fun. It almost makes me want a girl...almost, lol! That is the neatest idea!

While your bedside table is lovely (I would not dare show mine right now) and looove the idea of the notes to princess, I actually have been catching up on blog reading and of course the former NICU and L&D nursing experience in me had me focusing on the placenta previa post and the other mention of demise of mom and baby. I never take pregnancy and delivery of healthy baby for granted. And because I was blessed with another great experience recently (and because I am terribly hormonal) I was bawling. We can not prevent these situations all the time, but when they happen we need great nurses and great Doctors and it seems as if you r one of those great nurses. Here is wishing you patients with positive outcomes, but the fortitude for those outcomes that are not so positive.

Oooh! Maybe I'll have to be a copy cat too with the journal idea too. I might even get in to the photo of my bedside table, but it isn't nearly as neat as yours. I am looking over there as I type this and see money, bills, books, makeup, a bottle of water, some medicine, a TV remote, eyeglasses, and a cell phone on the charger. Guess I should tell you this is actually a TV tray set up beside my bed side table. I am using the whole space. Okay. I'll take a pic and post it. You asked for it!!

Sometimes I read a couple of books at once. Sounds crazy, unless you're one who does it too.

Cute idea about the bedside table picture. My top is usually fairly empty, however there is a space underneath where my Books and Bibles are!

I'm catching up on some blog reading tonight...

First of all, so sorry you've been so sick! Hope you're feeling 100% soon!

Also, like so many commenters above, I love, love, LOVE the journal idea. I think I'm going to start one with my oldest tomorrow. :)

Blessings to you and your family!
