A Walk to Remember 2010...was amazing

A Walk To Remember

We Walk For The Steps They Will Never Take

Our Fifth Annual "A Walk to Remember" was a huge success.

Nearly 700 parents, family, and friends came to honor their babies.

There were many tear, hugs, and much love that swept over the medical center grounds.

The service was lovely. Our honorary family spoke of their daughter with Trisomy 18, whom we supported through our palliative care program. They shared of the precious 34 hours they held and loved on her. There was not a dry eye in the auditorium.

It was a privilege to validate the lives of the many babies represented through "the reading of the names".

As the group walked around the medical center moods brightened and many stayed to share memories of their babies and enjoy refreshments.

I was touched to see that so many parents had huge walking teams who came to support them.

A Walk to Remember gives bereaved parents a chance to talk of their babies each year with family and friends.

When a baby dies, many people do not see the loss as significant.

"Well, at least you didn't know her."

"You can have another one."

From the moment a couple finds out they are pregnant, they are parents.

No matter how many weeks or months the baby was in the womb or days the baby lived, they were and always will be the mother and father of a baby who will always be precious to them.

This month, National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, reach out to those you know have lost their baby.

Always remember...

Sounds like it was a wondeful gathering and I know it's important for them to talk about their babies.

I have no idea how I came across your blog but I think I was meant to! Not only am I also a part time L & D nurse (well and a wife and mommy too) but I also just suffered my second miscarriage in a row last week. These words hit home. I am so glad someone is doing something for all of the moms and dads out there that have experienced a loss. What a precious gift!

Wow! What a wonderful event. Thank you for being a part of it. I have had two close friends miscarry this year. I cannot begin to fathom it. I am so glad that organizations exist to acknowledge their loss.

I wish there was a Walk 2 Remember here too! I am so glad you helped organize this. I know just simply being remembered and a continuing part of a family is a huge deal for our Gracie.

Hoping my sister will guest post too. Thank you again my sweet friend!

I was never able to conceive before I had to have a hysterectomy so I went through grieving, also.

Thanks for posting.

I have a place in my heart for people who struggle to have children or lose children - probably why I had that Oprah dream. This is good work.

And NOOOOOO - I am NOT over you. I am a slouch of a READER (along with my scarce blogging myself). It's like my baby became mobile and I can't sit at my computer looong enough bc Im busy chasing him away from trouble. But I don't complain - because thank G-d he is healthy.

Thank you for posting this! Many people think that eventually you "get over" losing a baby but you never quite do...no many how many years have gone by or how many children you've had since.
