A Thought About Parenting...

Today, my boy is missing out on something really big.

He just won't go with the program (read -school-here).

Discipline hurts.

Today, it really makes me sad that I have to keep him home.

But it's the right thing to do.

Some days (okay, months) being a mom is just downright hard.

I know it's hard for firehubby too.

And EVERYONE said parenting would be easy.

Goodness, they were so wrong.

(just kidding with the last sentence)

This is just too depressing...

So, here are a few pix of the kids first concert.

Paul McCartney at the Hollywood bowl last week!

oops, sorry honey, guess that Keith Urban picture accidentally uploaded
my bad ;)

It is sad, but good for you for following through. Hopefully he will learn through this.

Ugh, I'm so sorry things are so rough right now. I hope that whatever he's missing out on sends him a message loud and clear.

That must hurt. It's likely hurting you and firehubby more than it is him (although he won't realise that just yet).

Well done on staying consistent and following through - far better he learns NOW that actions (or lack of) have consequenses.

Love the new look blog btw.

This is definitely one of the hardest parts of parenting! I don't think our kids even realize how much it hurts us to have follow through on discipline sometimes.

It's something they won't truly understand until they become parents themselves.

Love the concert pics..looks like you all had such a good time!

I remember those rough days (as the child!) really well, still. Ohhh the battles my mother & I fought, constantly, during my teen years. I was SUCH a pill. It's a wonder the woman still loves me as much as she does ;)

I'm not a Mama, so I know I can't say a whole lot that will be of comfort, but know that this, too, shall pass. Thinking of you 'n firehubby.

Bummer. I'm learning the hard way that following through with very clear consequences for actions (or lack thereof, whatever the case may be) is the only way they 'get it.' Hang in there!

Lucky family! What a great concert. My guess with the explosion/fire picture is that he was singing Live and Let Die. What? You didn't ask? oh. :o)

Your family has the best smiles.

So is the picture of Keith Urban someone you would want to see again? Loved these pictures and makes me wonder do you live in Southern Cal?

Keith Urban Eay!!!! who is being bad now.... LOL

yep parenting is a tough one sometimes...

It would be so much easier if you could just miss a few payments and the birthing centers would just come and repossess them...(just kidding)

It is very hard to be a parent, especially with dicipline. I remember sending my daughter to her room but tapaing her shows so she woulnd't miss them. I couldn't get to the link. Looks like you had a great time at the concert.

It is very tough to discipline our children, but it's so important to do it! They test us a lot...consistency with our parenting is key. I'll be praying!

Paul McCartney?! I used to have the biggest crush on him when he was in the Beatles - many, many, MANY years ago! lol

There will be a day.... when he looks you in the eye and says "Thanks, Mom". It may not even happen here on this earth, although it most likely will. But it WILL happen. Carry on, dear one... you are doing the right thing. Now, I'm off to comment on your most recent post, in which you show that you have your priorities in order (Keith notwithstanding.... ) :<)

Hang in there Julie! You have to give me advice when it's my turn.

Tough love is true love! I remind my kids that all the time when they lose priviledges.

My first concert was Billy Joel and it was awesome, just like I am sure Paul was! So fun.

So sorry about the struggle with your son. Hopefully he has learned another lesson and will change his behavior in the future.

Hi, linked here from Gracie's blog. Took a quick look and had to comment on the story of your son. As a parent I think you handled it 'right on.' Good job. It is tough being a parent. But, ten years from now, your son will think you. Mine did.

You have a nice blog.

I love your new look! I haven't been blogging very much lately so I'm sorry for not seeing it sooner. The concert pics are great and I'm a big fan of Keith Urban so it was a pleasant surprise to see him :).
