485

485 is a number I hate.

485 means less fun for summer.

485 is a scam.

485 makes city hall smile.

485 is a crime...in more than one way.

Misjudging a yellow...yes, by a millisecond...not crazily running a red, costs $485 in our town.

Do you have these evil traps in your city? Do you know how much a violation costs?

My city does not make me happy...(whew...almost let an expletive slip!)

Our city put them up but realized it cost more to install the cameras then they were making on traffic tickets. So I don't think they have them turned on 'cause I've earned several tickets by now! But yikes, that is a crazy amount for a ticket!

WHoa... that is pure, evil highway robbery. Sorry, but it just is. We have those cameras here (and they've caught my hubby a couple of times). The fine is $70. It's frustrating (especially when it's a situation where you're in a truck hauling a heavy load of stuff and stopping quickly is difficult). I know all of the sides to trying to stop the accidents, but $485? That's just a crazy ripoff by a city laughing all the way to the bank. Booooooo.....

Man. That's pretty steep! I'm glad we live in "Small Town USA". And hubby's uncle used to be Chief of Police! :)

I take it you had some mail involving the number 485?

I've heard about red light cameras, but have never known anyone that received a ticket with one. Sounds like an icky situation.

That's freakin crazy girl! I think here that would get you a fixed penaly notice of £60 - about $90 ish. But we don't have cameras for that (yet!) so you'd have to be caught doing it.

I can maybe see a small fine, but $485?! that's highway robbery.

My husband just received a $115 fine in NYC because the back of his car was sticking out in an intersection. WHAT? He went through the green light and was stopped by the traffic in front of him, then the light turned red. I think he should plea small town hick that knows nothing about big city stupid driving laws.

Oh I am so sorry that is terrible! That is so ridiculously expensive for misjudging a yellow...not speeding through a red. That is crap!

There's a town with folks suing about their photo tickets because the language of the installation said the violations would cost no more than a parking ticket... maybe worth a look?

And you can always challenge those, you know.

Sure wished you are around here this morning... we had some blood and a very faint mommy, ha ha.

Trying to get caught up here - have missed you!

Holy cow! That is so wrong. I could have sworn those cameras have taken a picture of my car a couple of times, but I've never received a letter. Crud. There's probably a warrant out for me right now.

Yikes!! And it is so hard sometimes to do that quick mental "should I stop or go" when those lights turn yellow.

Helene said...

That is robbery!!!!! I can't believe they can actually charge you that much! In the meantime, the guy who robbed and beat up an old lady in the next town is running free, right?

A CA rolling stop (not even a rolling stop, but not pausing for 3 seconds) cost $212 in our town..I got pulled over in my driveway coming home from VBS with 3 hungry kids nicely strapped in their seats....the nice officer yelled at me forcefully to stay in my car and said in front of the kids that she has me on video "breaking the law." I am very careful with the stop signs in my neighborhood....she said I stopped but "not all the way." What the heck...I might fight it. If not, it's $54 to register for traffic school and another $30 for the school and the ticket too....$300 total....WOW!

Beth E. said...

Oh, no!!! I'm sorry that happened! That seems like an awfully steep fine. We don't have cameras in our town. We only have just a few traffic lights!

Orah said...

wow, 485 for just missing the yellow - I would be VERY forthcoming with the &*#@%$@.

Ouch! $485 is a LOT!
