Traditions

It’s that time of year, rich in traditions that warm our hearts and bring delight.

One of our family favorites is making homemade applesauce.

Here’s how we do it:

After you cook them down to a chunky sauce (or smooth if your prefer), don’t forget to add obscene amounts of sugar and some cinnamon to taste!

Yummy.

I am sure you can smell that aroma, can’t you!

Smells like apple pie :)

Go ahead, don’t be shy…eat up!

Oh darn, don’t tell Firehubby. But, I just gave you his bowl. He is going to request another entire batch anyway. One he does not have to share. He gets that way about our applesauce! (A little selfish streak…hmmm)

Thanksgiving is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings.

We are so very thankful for our health, our family, our jobs, and for our friends.

Tomorrow we will journey far away, about 2 whole miles, and enjoy a feast at my sister’s home. Mom and Dad have just arrived from Arizona and Uncle Moosie and family will join too. It will be pretty small this year, only about 15. Cozy :)

May God bless your Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! That apple sauce looks so yummy. Don't you just love your apple/slicer/peeler? What did they do before those were invented? LOL!

God Bless,
Jackie

My mother makes homemade applesauce. She runs it through a thing called a Foley (no, not the catheter! lol). It makes the applesauce super smooth. My boys love it that way!

I need your email address!!!!

Glad you didn't add cumin to your applesauce like I did! lol I made a huge batch of sauce once and at night I went into the kitchen and grabbed the cinnamon from the cabinet and added a liberal amount. Thot it smelled kind of gross. Then I TURNED ON THE LIGHT and saw it wasn't cinnamon, it was cumin! What a waste of sauce!

Tell your husbands thank you for the apple sauce.
Have a beautiful day. (we only have 4 this year)
So when you have time, how much sugar with how many apples?

Oh. I might be jealous. This year, we were all split in different directions, so Bughunter and I were with my mom and we ate out for T'giving. *sigh* But what matters was that we were with loved ones, and I will not lose sight of that!
If you give a Firehubby an apple, he'll want to make applesauce. And if he makes applesauce, he'll want it all for himself. And if you make him share? He'll probably pitch a fit and want to make more.... :<)
Hugs and blessings... love you guys!

We used to make applesauce with our first graders when I was a teacher. The smell would meander it's way into every nook and cranny of the school. YUM!
Hope you had a great Tgiving! :)

mmm - yumm. I make a batch of home made apple sauce for our Succos holiday which was in October. We just finished it off. we actually went apple picking (reminds me, never posted about that). I like to put a lemon in it and also actual cinnamon sticks. Hope it came out great.
