Not Me Monday...ehem, Tuesday

I am NOT doing a Not Me Monday post on Tuesday. That would be lame.

It is NOT me who was without my colleague last night to run my bereaved parent support group :(

The group itself actually went really well. Great connections…great sharing.

However, in my hurry to get out of the creepy abandoned place while my participants were still in the parking lot, I did not leave the chairs in a circle and the lights still on.

Afraid of the dark? NOT me!

Then, as I exited into the dark parking lot…I did NOT find that everyone had driven off…holy moly…I did NOT say DARK parking lot. (no, I am NOT afraid of the dark)

So, I did NOT proceed to hurry towards my car only to suddenly find myself flying through the air and then towards the ground…CRASH! (Who put that concrete parking barrier there?)

I did NOT land on my knee and feel instant pain. All of the stuff I was holding was flung out of my hands and onto the asphault.

So much for moving quickly to my car!

Oh yeah, and who in their right mind would use a crystal bowl that they got for their wedding as an bowl for their support group refreshments…of course, NOT me! So, this lovely crystal bowl is NOT laying in the parking lot broken in a million pieces with me laying next to it in the DARK (don’t make fun of me…I am NOT afraid of the dark!)

Now, despite wanting to lay there and cry, I did NOT want to get the heck out of Dodge QUICKLY. So I gather my stuff (and my pride) and limp over to my car and throw everything in. I am NOT moaning at this point as I am trying to get out of this dark parking lot at 9:30 at night…ALONE! (oh, and I definitely am not hanging out in a creepy parking lot picking up glass! Sorry, REALLY, just not happening!)

Thankfully after the initial pain wore off, I only have a scraped knee ( I do NOT look like a 5 year old with my knee bandaid) and a bruised ego…and a broken crystal bowl that I did NOT use for my support group refreshments.

(Oh, and Leandra, you are NOT allowed to take any more days off from working with me & the group…look what happens when you leave me alone!)

So this LAME, NOT AFRAID of the DARK, support group facilitating, wife.mom.nurse is not posting this NOT ME MONDAY on Tuesday…I just wouldn’t do such a thing!

Not Me Monday-Why Nurses Shouldn’t B Patients

I am joining the AWESOME MckMama today for another NOT ME MONDAY. My life is so boring lately...NOT!

As many of you know, my new best friend Ana stopped by last week…

Yep, Nasty ol’ Ana-phylaxis!

This sweet nurse (yeah, I’m talking about me!) became a very problematic and pathetic patient.

Let’s just establish right here that I am NOT allergic to fragrances…perfumes, colognes, air fresheners, cleaners, just about anything that sprays out of a can! Lame…who could be so lame?!

Plus, would you want anyone so lame to be your nurse? I thought NOT!

Nurses are known to be perfect patients. So with that in mind, I am really a good patient…NOT!

Last Wednesday, after being team-leader for the day I did NOT run into a flock of freshly washed, perfectly fragrant nurses coming out of the report room. They moseyed on by, heading for duty on the night shift. My throat did NOT immediately hint to me that a terrible night about to unfold.

As I headed to my car, my throat did NOT start closing up. I did NOT run into a nurse in the parking lot who would have made Florence Nightingale roll over in her grave!

Po' Flo!

Firehubby does NOT do an awesome job of describing that JERK…here!

I did NOT take 8 hours to respond to treatment and get admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

After being stable for about 12 hours, the nurse giving my male, comatose roommate a bath did NOT spray deodorant in my room!!!!

Nurses would NEVER be so careless. A person is always safe in the hospital…naughty me, I won’t go any further down this path!

I did NOT get another visit from Ana, yep Ana-phylaxis! Did I mention I hate her?~!

This Right Guard event did NOT bring on 4 hours more misery, this time with the added bonus of severe pain!

I did NOT start to live in fear of waking up to this:

…MURDER!

Ok, I was NOT such a bad patient.

I did NOT take my own IV out. (It needed to come out!)

I did not show various people wielding needles where I wanted them jabbed into my body.

I did not get drugged up and exhausted and act grouchy to my wonderful husband and try to get him to leave so I did not have to watch him be so concerned for me…

I did NOT hate being a patient.

But for now, I am VERY thankful to be home with my family.

And just so you know… this is definitely NOT a picture of me that I made Firehubby take for my blog. Who would ever think about taking a photo just for NOT ME Monday when they are in ICU?

Who looks like the bitter patient? Not me!

Thank you MckMama for hosting this blog carnival and giving me a chance to be NOT so sweet about my hospitalization. Now, everyone click here and check out all a ton of awesome NOT Me MONDAYS.

Not Me Monday-I'm a Geek!

WOW! I can hardly believe it is NOT ME MONDAY again.

Yes, I am joining MckMamma for this fun blog carnival.

I highly recommend it!

"Computer geek"… who said that?!

I am NOT becoming a computer geek!

Well, programming and knowing all about

the innards of a computer is (really) not what I am talking about!

I am NOT spending many hours on the computer each week.

Between work…

My blog…

Emails… Online Bill-pay and budget management…

I am NOT spending way too much time online!

This would NOT be appropriate for a wife-mom-nurse-type.

I should be spending more time…

Cleaning…

Cooking…

Sewing…

Attending to my family’s every beck and call...

Not… I like being a computer geek!

Off to surf!

Not Me Monday- Birth Day Edition

May 18th, 2009
Happy Not Me Monday everyone. It's a great day to join MckMama at My Charming Kids in this fun blog carnival-Not Me Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In honor of Scout’s birthday I have decided that I will NOT embarrass him (and myself) and share a little about his actual BIRTH DAY.
So, here is part of the story of a crazy L&D nurse having a baby after 7 years of helping other women have babies...NOT ME!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When it was becoming clear that I was going into labor, I did NOT think it would be a great idea to have a nice Mexican dinner. After all, I would be breastfeeding and who knows when I would be able to enjoy beans and spicy food again...

I realized that was NOT a huge mistake when my tiny newborn was squealing and then having major TOOTS just hours after he had his first meal of

Spicy Mexican colostrum!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For years, I did NOT fantasize about how I would spend my time getting through
early labor. Yes, I was sure that I would labor in the bathtub. That would be so relaxing...
NOT! I got in the tub and didn’t even get through the first contraction before I literally jumped out of the bath water. I did NOT spend the next couple of hours on my hands and knees, washing the kitchen floor.
No, it did NOT feel better than any bath that I could have imagined.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Acting like my own nurse NEVER crossed my mind. I did NOT fill out my own admission assessment, put myself on the monitor, and give myself an IV bolus when my blood pressure bottomed out after my epidural.

And finally, I did NOT scream “GET. IT. OUT!” as my baby was crowning.

(no one told me it hurt really bad at the end!)

I did NOT freak out at that moment thinking that everyone at the nurse's station might have heard!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy 12th Birthday Scout!
(Thanks for forgiving me for the salsa and refried beans!)
Not Me Monday- The Bad Mommy Edition
Yep, I’m joining MckMama again this week for her awesome blog carnival. I think I shall take this opportunity to make a couple of confessions…
Let’s just establish that this is NOT my daughter’s fish bowl!
I would NOT let her put off this chore for a month(or more)!
I just would NOT allow this! NOT this awesome mommy ;)
When I was little, I did NOT do the same thing with my fish.
My fish did NOT live to be older than any fish
in the neighborhood because of this loving care!!!
Next, I want to say “Happy Belated Mother’s Day” to all of you babymomma’s.
I helped two sweet ladies celebrate their mommyhood yesterday.
One C-Section, one natural.
I do NOT love my job!
We celebrated my Mother’s Day Saturday night.
I did not buy myself this cupcake bouquet on Friday when
Firehubby got called away so suddenly because of the fires.
(I did NOT leave it sideways because I am running out the door
to go to a conference!)
Well, those cupcakes did NOT call my name…they did NOT haunt me!
I did NOT sneak one from the bouquet on Friday night!
NO, that would have been WRONG!
Then, I did NOT strategically move the cupcakes into place as to avoid being caught by my family.
That could ruin the specialness of the great celebrations.
NOT ME! “)
Happy Not Me Monday!!!!
Not Me Monday
I am NOT extremely excited that Baby Stellan is doing so well that MckMama is back at her awesome carnival~
Not Me Monday!
Please know, I always have my act together…
Well, the other day, I was driving to work and I did NOT notice that my feet felt a bit strange. I was NOT shocked when I looked down and did NOT find that somehow I had slipped on my chunky, casual sandals accidentally, instead of my nice dress shoes!
There was no way that I could miss the important consultation. So, I absolutely did NOT go and see a patient in my ugly get-up! I was NOT mortified!!!
_______________________________________________________
The other night, when Firehubby was at the station, I did NOT stay up extremely late.
I just would NOT do that. No, my family deserves a well-rested me, that way I am always functioning at my highest. Not a grouchy…(I shall go no farther)
I did NOT make so much noise, acting like it was the middle of the day, that I woke my kids.
A half an hour later, they were not heard giggling in Scout’s room. When I opened the door, I did NOT find two little kids watching a movie on the portable DVD player.
It was NOT two in the morning!
I really looked nothing like this the next day. Not even for a minute.
Grouchy...tired...NOT ME!
I am so happy now though, because I am off to check-out all of the things that you DIDN'T do at NOT ME MONDAY!
Not Me Monday
Yeah! It's another Monday! Look how McMamma's Not Me Monday has improved my Monday Attitude! You should definately join her....click here!
Let's get this straight my bloggy friends...I am ALWAYS punctual! That is what I am known for! They call me "Just on-time Julie"...NOT ")
I had a delightful day @ work on Saturday, but it was NOT my clock that failed to wake me @ 5:30! Firehubby did not tap me on the shoulder at 6:20 and ask, "Are you going to work?"
I hopped out of bed, quickly bathed, brushed my hair and teeth. But, I did NOT race off to work without make-up on. My patient's deserve better than that, their nurse should look picture perfect!
As I tucked myself into bed on Saturday night, preparing to get up again on Sunday, I did not double, triple, quadruple check that darn clock! I couldn't figure out why it did not go off, then I set it again for morning.
My subsconscious mind did NOT have confidence in the clock that night, so it woke me each hour to make sure I was not oversleeping. THANKS ALOT brain!!!
I was such a restless sleeper, I felt like this guy:
On Sunday, before work, I did NOT take a couple of minutes to say "Hi" to y'all in bloggy land instead of putting on my make-up again. My lovely laboring patient did NOT take five minutes between contractions to make herself look so pretty.
She looked so very lovely...her nurse, NOT so much.
That same cute patient did NOT embroider on the bottom of her sock "It's a boy" and "Catch doctor!". NO, when I put her feet up, those words did NOT peak out above the foot petals! HA!
I really like my patient yesterday!!! Pretty and funny.
By the way, it was a BOY. A sweet, darling, little bundle of joy, boy! Gonna say it again...I love my job!
ON A SERIOUS NOTE: Please pray for baby Stellan, McMamma's boy. He was taken to the hospital this morning with a serious heart problem.
As I went to link up this morning, I found that he is very, very sick right now.
Not Me Monday
It's NOT my second post today!
That would NOT be strange!!!
It's just not a Monday in my book without a NOT ME! If you haven't gone to confession with McMamma lately you really should. It is quite cathartic!
We did NOT celebrated our leprechaun heritage a day early so Firedaddy could join us
~he's a polichaun, but he loves a green meal
We did NOT enjoy our magically delicious menu:
Tortigreeni and Lingreeni with Pesto
Shamrock Smoothie
Green apples with greenut butter
Green Salad
Mashed Irish potatoes
At the end of the rainbow~green dippin' dots and
St. Pattycakes
A traditional Irish meal does NOT makes us smile! ")
(The green is almost gone!*)
*A sure sign a good time was NOT had celebrating St. Patty's day.
March 17 Bonus: Celebrating the mystery pet's birthday!
I'm NOT telling...really.
Not Looking forward to seeing pix of your celebrations tomorrow! ")
